- Serves: 4 persons
- 350 gwholemeal flour
- 150 gwhite flour
- 1 ½ tspsalt
- ½ cubeyeast
- 30 gbutter
- 3 dlmilk water (1/2 milk, 1/2 water)
- 200 gdried fruit & nut mix
Step 1Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Crumble the yeast, mix in.
Step 2Cut the butter into pieces, add to the flour along with the milky water. Knead to form a soft, smooth dough. Mix in the trail mix, cover the dough and leave to rise at room temperature for approx. 2 hrs. until doubled in size.
Step 3Cut the dough into 4 pieces, shape each piece into a roll, cut off approx. ¼ for the head. Cut into the lower third of the roll to create the legs. Cut into the upper third at the sides to make the arms. Shape the head into an oval ball and place on top of the body, place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Step 4Use raisins and nuts for the eyes and buttons, leave to rise for a further 30 mins. Beat the egg in a small bowl, use to glaze the bread men.
Step 5Approx. 30 mins. in the lower half of an oven preheated to 200°C. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, leave the bread men to cool completely on a rack.
